Gabi: "Atletico is a Cup team"
 
The Atletico captain does not believe the defeat at San Mames will affect them

The captain of Atletico Madrid Gabi Fernandez, spoke after training on Tuesday and described his feelings after Sunday's loss at San Mames: "It's hard not to be affected by defeats. I think nobody likes to lose 3-0. We are here to win. We are having a great season. We have to keep improving, as the coach said, and that does not mean that the season is bad or that the team has a slump. I think the group will learn from this defeat and hopefully it will not happen again."
 
Looking at the next match against Sevilla in the cup, the Atletico captain said the team will go in to it "as if we had won in Bilbao. It's a completely different competition, we’re at the gates of a final of a major title for us and for all the teams, it will be a difficult game because they are good. With the change of manager they are defending better and it will be a tough game."
 
"They may have lost in the league and the don’t have a big chance of geting in to Europe because they are at a great distance from the positions, they can save the season getting into a final. It is clear that Atletico Madrid has to fight for every competition we play in. The Cup is one of them and we had a hard time getting here. Atletico Madrid is a Cup team, this competition excites the fans. On Thursday we need your support, getting through this round is going to be very complicated," said Gabi to finish.

Atletico turn the focus to the Cup
 
Atletico prepare for Thursday's semifinal against Sevilla
 


Diego Pablo Simeone spent much of training on Tuesday preparing tactically for the first leg of the semifinals of the Copa del Rey, this Thursday, from 22.00, in which Atletico Madrid play in the Vicente Calderon against Unai Emery’s Sevilla.
 
The first 40 minutes were devoted to work in the gym and, later, the players took the field at Majadahonda Sports City where they conducted some ball exercisers, led by coach Oscar Ortega, before starting the review to tactics behind closed doors. Simeone could have all the first team players available except the Colombian Radamel Falcao, who continues the process of recovering from his hamstring injury, and Domingo Cisma, with discomfort in his right ankle picked up in training on Monday.  
 
The Thai Teerasil Dangda and youths and Óliver Torres and Javi Manquillo also took part in the session that lasted for about an hour and 20 minutes.

Diego Pablo Simeone has given the list of 18-man squad for the match against Sevilla after training at the Vicente Calderon. Saul, Manquillo and Oliver from Atletico B made the squad. Raul Garcia is out suspended. Falcao who is recovering from a muscle injury didn’t make the squad.

Simeone: "The fans have to be with us"
 
The Argentine hopes for the support of the fans "because it’s not every day you play a semifinal"



Diego Pablo Simeone encouraged the fans to go to Calderon and show their support to reach the final of the Copa del Rey: "I put myself in the shoes of a football fan and today Atletico play a semifinal, people have to go because it’s not every day you play a semifinal.”
 
"It's an important game. Semifinals arenot played every day and this year we again have the opportunity to play a semifinal and we will try to play it the best way possible. I repeat, we do not play semifinal’s everyday and hopefully as always our fans will be with us. Being in a semifinal is something to make the most of" said the Atletico coach.
 
About Radamel Falcao’s progression and possible inclusion in the squad for the match against Sevilla, Simeone said of the Colombian "he’s working well" and added that "today he will do a little more work, but we have not yet confirmed whether or not he will be in the squad."
 
"We can not forget that he is a very important player for the team. Lets be realistic, Falcao to us is like Cristiano for Madrid and Messi for Barcelona. Players of their quality are needed in any team," he said.
 
Simeone has great memories of his time at Seville: "The people, the city, its colour, its illusion, how I was received ... Sevilla was my first stop in Spain after my initial spell in Italy. The truth is that I have a great memory of my two seasons at Sevilla.”

Atleti  record 19 consecutive wins in their stadium

Atletico Madrid went another game without losing in their stadium. The 2-1 win against Sevilla in the first leg of the semifinals of the Cup extends the run to 19 victories in a row at the Vicente Calderon.
 
On the banks of the Manzanares Atletico have beaten Athletic (4-0), Valladolid (2-1), Rayo (4-3), Malaga (2-1), Osasuna (3-1), Getafe (2-0) , Sevilla (4-0), Deportivo (6-0), Celtic (1-0), Zaragoza (2-0) and Levante (2-0) in League; Jaén (1-0), Getafe (3 - 0), Betis (2-0) and Sevilla (2-1) in the Cup, and Academic (2-1), Viktoria Plzen (1-0) and Hapoel (1-0), in Europe. All added to the victory against Malaga (2-1) in the last game of last season.

Simeone: "It was a great game from Atletico Madrid"

After beating Sevilla 2-1, Diego Pablo Simeone attended the media content with his men and stressing that the tie is still open and even. "The results are what they are and the result is fair because it is how it ended. The tie is open but I'll remember the great game from Atletico Madrid. I'll take the first half. We played well," summed up the coach.
 
Atletico went ahead but the joy was short lived as Negredo equalized from the penalty spot a few moments later. "We rushed a bit by the time we got in the lead and that allowed them to find a way into the game. The highlight was the reaction after the equaliser when it seemed the game was going in their favour,” He added.
 
With the score 1-1 and 10 men on each side, Simeone brought on Uruguay's Cristian Rodriguez who helped Atletico go up a gear. "We understood that the tie would be difficult if it ended al square. We had the idea to go with a 4-3-2 but they had superiority in midfield and could we not attack as we wanted. We put Cristian on because it was his type of game, we needed courage and commitment and the penalty came from one of his moves, "said the technician on the Uruguayan.
 
Simeone is not worried about the strain of so many games across so many competitions "The players are fine. We have to try to handle the load the best way to remain competitive as we are doing," said the Argentine.
