Simeone: "We were aggressive and that put us on track in the game"
The Atletico players put in a big performace that lived up to the managers expectations
The Atletico coach appeared before the media quite pleased with the accomplishments of his team against Getafe. "The first half was very good. The team knew what they had to do, looking for the quickest route best suited to the characteristics of the players we had to win the match. We were aggressive and that put us on track in the game. In the second half we did not get to keep the ball as well but the team was strong" he analysed.
The coaching staff designed a game plan that was shaped to perfection on the pitch of the Calderon. "Arda and Filipe played well down the left. Initially we chose Adrian to start the game and with Raul Garcia for his areal presence. The second half was not as good from the performance point of view but the result leaves us a great satisfaction" praised the coach.
After two defeats, Atletico returned to the Vicente Calderon, where they hadn’t dropped any points in League or Europa League. "The team won again, which was important. It makes me happy that the team remains competitive. Since we arrived, the goal is to aim to be competitive. We always want to win but this is a game." said the Argentine, in addition to showing his happiness with the turn out at the game. "It was nice to see so many people at the game. It has also been something special for Radamel" he said after the game.
To conclude the press conference, Simeone assessed the results, but stressed he’s only concerned about what his team does game by game. "It’s in the last 10 games when we’ll look at what our opponents are doing, we’ll continue to work hard to pass the first major mountain until February or March. We continue in our line trying not to miss anything. The league is very long and the points gained today are as important as the ones in week 28.” Concluded the coach after winning the eighth consecutive victory in the Calderon.
