Preparing for King's Cup action
Mallorca up next on the agenda
Real Madrid were given a day off after Sunday's win over Zaragoza, but the players returned to work today to begin preparing for Thursday's King's Cup clash against Mallorca. Metzelder, Cannavaro, Heinze, Ramos, and Baptista did not participate. As a result of their hard work on Sunday against Zaragoza, Bernd Schuster granted his players a day off to begin the work week. The squad, however, was back in action on Tuesday to begin preparing for the upcoming Cup tie against Mallorca. The players arrived at Valdebebas at 11:30 and began their day with a half-hour workout in the gym. Once outside, a brief warm-up gave way to two groups of Keep Away. The football then came into action as technique took centre-stage in what was the first of two training sessions before traveling to the largest of the Balearic Islands on Wednesday. Five men did not participate in today's session. Metzelder has missed the last two matches due to left plantar fasciitis and stayed in the gym. Heinze tore a left thigh muscle on Sunday and will miss an estimated five weeks. Cannavaro was also out with a sprained left ankle. Baptista (Tonsilitis) and Ramos also chose to remain indoors today to continue their respective recoveries.
NEXT TRAINING SESSION: Wednesday 9 January @ 11:30 at Valdebebas. Behind closed doors.
