Bilic Confused With A Murderer
The Italian newspaper 24 Minuti mistakenly used the picture of Croatia coach Slaven Bilic to illustrate the news of a Macedonian murderer.
Vlado Taneski, a journalist for over twenty years, was arrested earlier this year for the murder of two women.
After DNA tests connected Taneski to the dead women, he was imprisoned a few days ago on June 22, 2008, only to then be found dead in his cell the next day (Monday) after an apparent suicide.
The Italian paper 24 Minuti was running a report on the story, and besides the text they mistakenly used a photograph of Croatia coach Slaven Bilic, rather than a picture of the murderer Taneski.
Beneath the photograph of Bilic is a caption which confirms that the man in the picture is indeed the Macedonian murderer.
It is believed that the mistake occurred when workers downloaded the picture from the Croatian site Jutarnji.hr. The Macedonian word ‘utrinski’ and the Croatian ‘jutarnji’ have the same meaning (of the morning), and it is possible that those who did the story were not football lovers, and so did not recognise who Bilic was.
