Former sporting director Javier Subirats was the one who promised Ayala the 2 year contract extension with a higher salary. He was then fired and Carboni took the post. He and president Soler sat then and drew up some rules, policys and guidelines the club will follow. One being the policy of not raising the salary of players over 32 when extending their contracts. They expected Ayala to understand and follow this but he instead demanded the salary he was promised by Subirats. And from there it went downhill... I can see both sides of the argument but surely Valenciia can see El Raton is not your average 32 yr old and that he's still a giant in defence. This stubborness has cost Valencia before, plus until a replacement is found then Ayala is still needed in the team, or else Marchena, if that was the solution then it is compromising Valencia IMO. Plus Albiol can learn a lot off Ayala Sad really how bad things have gone. He's always seemed to be wanting to leave but was somehow always convinced to stay but I guess this time things have gone too far.
Couple of seasons back he was pushing for a move to Madrid but the board rejected that and convinced him to stay with a new deal. This time, you can't blame the player.. and you can't blame the board either. He's a professional looking for a secure future until he retires while the board want to contain the wage budget and paying alot for a 34/35 year old doesn't seem sensible..
Goodbye and Good luck Ayala! Fantastic player who served us well, let's leave it at that.. Hope he doesn't join Villarreal though, we don't want to make our rivals stronger, do we? I wouldn´t really mind if he went to Villarreal, it´s not like he´s going to Madrid for christs sake! i think villareal are offering good money and the board should sell to them as bolton are giving less money.also the player does'nt want to ove to bolton.he agent has infact stated that if ayal's wishes are not respected he will end his contract at valencia without playing That might be true BUT lets not forget that he continually wanted to move to either Barca or Madrid, so IMO, he should be the last one talking about feeling 'betrayed', he's a professional and is in it for money and trophies, thats it he doesn't really have to talk about 'desire' 'betrayal' etc. after looking for a move every other season, if it was up to him and his desire, he would probably be plaing in Barcelona and Madrid right now.. This has really been a sad summer for me, first my favourite player leaves andnow my favourite defender is leaving aswell.. Ayala actually feigned an injury for 2 months a couple of years ago when we turned down a lucrative offer from Real Madrid. He is no saint by all means! but nor is president Soler . i thnik the management should have thought that if ayala refuses to stay what would be an alternative, looks like the management thought that he will agree......i really feel that valencia made a mistake by not using aimar to get gaby milito valencia have treated ayala atrociously.
he's the best defender in the world.
they're lucky to have him.
of course he wanted to sign for bigger clubs.
they should pay him what he's worth. you guys obviously didn't watch the world cup, ayala was magnificent, 33 years old, two cartilege operations in the same season, yet he was easily argentina's star performer.
it's his last contract and he deserves his due, he's stayed at valencia when he was good enough to be at any club in the world, everyone knows that, whatever the circumstances, it's v rare for a player of his calibre not to leave valencia, you have to accept that there are bigger clubs, not many, but a few.
all that time, you had one of the best three defenders in the world.
for the last two years of his career, give him what he wants, i.e. what he was promised.
two la ligas, two champs league finals, the uefa cup.
the guy is a legend for you guys.
