Atletico win 6-0 to Deportivo with five goals from the Colombian
Atletico recorded a stunning 6-0 victory against a Deportivo de la Coruna thanks to 5 goals from Falcao and fantastic offensive performance from Atletico. Atletico took their eighth league win of the year at the Calderon and the highest scoring team at home in the League.
Playing at the Vicente Calderon has become a tough challenge for visiting teams. No one has managed to take a single point in the rojiblanco fortress so far this season. The rojiblancos soon went about their work with two early chances by Koke. The number 6 then turned provider with great vision and quality in the final pass.
Koke was rampant, well supported by his teammates in midfield, and it was a matter of time that the front players would take advantage of their chances. The first goal came from Diego Costa. The Brazilian rose at the far post to head home from a corner in the 21st minute.
Deportivo looked to get straight back in to the game when Valeron struck the post. With the wood still vibrating after the midfielder shot, the `Tiger 'got his first goal of the night with Koke the provide. After four games without scoring, the Colombian pulled his claws to the fore and decided to feast. The was no time to dwell on the goal, the Tiger quickly made it 3-0 with a sublime finish from the right edge of the penalty area giving the home side a comfortable lead at the break.
The game was decided before the break but the best was yet to come. Atletico continued to domains in the second half and with two goals to his credit Falcao sealed his hat-trick in the 63rd minute from the penalty spot bagging his fifteenth goal in league to mak it 4-0.
The word routine does not exist in the dictionary of the Colombian and he was determined that the night of December 9 would be a special one for him and to all the fans who gathered at the Calderon. The `Tiger 'always wants more as he continued to attack the visitor goal. The 5th goal of the evening soon came, and it was Falcao’s forth with just 67 minutes played. And only a few minutes later, Falcao wrote himself in to the history of the club by netting his 5th goal of the night. No doubt the thousands who attended the banks of the Manzanares can say, without mistake, they lived one of the best individual performances in the history of the club.
The Calderón was a party place and the Atletico fans had witnessed and be part of a magical night.
