"I think we are all very well, we are for much. We will fight right up, we'd all have to achieve this and to fight the championship as any team great.

- Which player tries to imitate or concerns?

For me, one of the top five world's Javier Mascherano is the truth but I am much closer to Sebastian Battaglia. I'm more tiempista, steal and play.

- What is your dream in the near future?

Look, what a dream is to play at first. I'm in the club kid from and to debut in the Primera would be very nice.

Who will play for Argentina's U-22 in Toulon?
No. I don't have many answers to that question.

The best I can do is to give you some general information about the tournament and some of the names that will travel to Toulon, France, with Sergio BATISTA to participate in an U22 Youth Festival to be played from 3 till 12 June, 2009.

Argentina will participate in Group A and will face Egypt, United Arab Emirates and Netherlands, whilst Chile, France, Portugal and Qatar will take part in Group B.

Speaking of Argentina, the first thing to know is that some Argentine clubs will not release some of the guys BATISTA called up.

The problem is the timing of this tournament. A few clubs are going to be playing decisive matches (some fighting for the title, some trying to avoid relegation) and since it is not an official FIFA tournament, I think the clubs have a point. It's not like they are not willing to release a player ahead of a Youth World Cup or a major tournament.

Big names - familiar faces playing in Europe?

Emiliano INSUA (Liverpool) was being considered but he should miss out on the tournament because of injury.

Ever BANEGA (Atl. Madrid)
Lautaro ACOSTA (Sevilla)

Argentine First Division established players?

Diego BUONANOTTE (River Plate - not confirmed, but with great chances to feature-).

Germán PACHECO (Atlético Madrid youth teams. He is 17 years old and he is scoring many goals in Spain. He left Velez Sarsfield when he was 15 and has been playing in Spain since then).
Guillermo BURDISSO (Nicolás' brother, playing at Rosario Central -doubtful because his team is struggling in the relegation fight and could not be released-).
Lucas TRECARICHI (Leganés -Spain-. A lot of great things are said about this youngster).

Matías MARTINEZ (Racing Club) was called up by BATISTA but Racing already told him they won't release him because MARTINEZ (top-scorer for Racing despite being a central defender) would miss a crucial match against Gimnasia y Esgrima La Plata.

Boca Juniors have already communicate they won't release Facundo RONCAGLIA and Nicolás GAITAN but they have no problem with goalkeeper Josué AYALA joining BATISTA's team.

I guess we should keep an eye on this and see how the list finally shapes up. BATISTA said the list will be completed with players from the U18 and the U17. Remember the U17 just secured their ticket for the World Cup when they reached the final (lost on penalties to Brazil) in the South American tournament played in Chile.

This won't be the first time Argentina take places in this Toulon tournament. In 1975, under the guidance of César Luis MENOTTI, Argentina defeated France 1-0 in the final. Amongst our players were Daniel PASSARELLA, Américo GALLEGO and Jorge VALDANO.

In 1998, Argentina obtained their second title (beating France 2-0 in the final with goals from Francisco GUERRERO and Walter SAMUEL). Juan Román RIQUELME was elected best player of the tournament.

Lucas Villafáñez fue convocado a la preselección argentina Sub 20

“No me esperaba algo así, todavía no caigo”, confesó anoche “Villita” en diálogo con Diario Patagónico, luego de conocer la noticia durante la tarde. El futbolista de 17 años, nacido en Kilómetro 5, por ahora se lo toma con calma. “Estoy tranquilo, aunque con un poco de nervios”, reconoció.
Lucas Villafáñez en la práctica matutina de ayer, mucho antes de enterarse de la gran noticia.

Lucas Villafáñez, el pibe que el año pasado saltó al primer equipo de la Comisión de Actividades Infantiles en la Primera “B” Nacional de la mano de Hernán Maisterra, hoy vive el sueño palpable de vestir la celeste y blanca.

El habilidoso volante ofensivo que hoy es dirigido por Víctor Doria, su “hacedor” desde las inferiores, fue convocado durante la tarde de ayer a la preselección argentina Sub 20, dirigida por Sergio Batista.

“Villita” debe estar el lunes a las 14 en la sede central de la AFA, para luego partir con rumbo a Ezeiza. Los jugadores preseleccionados serán evaluados hasta el miércoles, y así sucesivamente semana de por medio, para no complicar a los planteles que integran.

Lucas se enteró de la gran noticia cuando estaba de visita en la casa de un amigo. “Me llamaron del club para decírmelo y no lo podía creer”, confesó.

El volante de 17 años derrocha tanta humildad como lujos dentro de la cancha, y por eso se lo toma con tranquilidad a este presente, pero también está algo nervioso.

“La verdad que estoy tranquilo, aunque con un poco de nervios, no sé. Todavía estoy cayendo”, comentaba anoche en diálogo con Diario Patagónico.

Villafáñez sabe que esta convocatoria es lo más importante que le ha pasado hasta el momento en su incipiente carrera profesional, pero mantiene los pies y la mente sobre la tierra, con la seguridad de que así se puede permitir soñar en serio.

Lucas Villafáñez: “Nos hace falta un triunfo de visitante”

El juvenil del plantel “azzurro” dialogó con Diario Patagónico, luego del entrenamiento del equipo de Víctor Hugo Doria y se mostró confiado en que la CAI va a ganar el sábado y comenzará a revertir los resultados a siete encuentros del final del torneo.
Lucas Villafáñez en el partido que la CAI perdió el sábado 4-0 ante Atlético Tucumán por la 31ª fecha de la B Nacional.

El presente de Lucas Villafáñez contrasta con el de la Comisión de Actividades Infantiles que desde hace unas fechas cosecha “una de cal y una de arena”. A pesar de los intentos el plantel no puede despegar de la zona de promoción y  Lucas Villafáñez tiene que convivir mirando la tabla de la Primera B Nacional y pensando en la convocatoria a la preselección Sub 20 que tantas alegrías produjo en su entorno y en el mismo club.

El último fin de semana fue de arena para el conjunto de Víctor Hugo Doria que perdió 4 a 0 frente a Atlético Tucumán por la 31ª fecha de la Primera B Nacional que le permitió a los tucumanos quedar como únicos escoltas de Chacarita Juniors y pensar en el ascenso a Primera división. En diálogo con Diario Patagónico “Villita” como es conocido por el periodismo, explicó las claves de la derrota reconociendo la jerarquía del rival. “Creo que de local veníamos haciendo las cosas bien, pero nos vimos superados por un equipo que juega bien y que demostró en la cancha que tiene mucha experiencia y eso se hizo notar adentro de la cancha”, afirmó.

El “Azzurro” tiene siete finales en juego donde debe jugar cuatro partidos en condición de visitante, sin embargo en lo que va del torneo solo ha logrado dos victorias. Primero frente a Instituto por 2 a 0 y luego ante Atlético Tucumán por 3 a 2, sin embargo, el volante confía en que llegó el momento de “ligar” debido a que ha empatado cuatro encuentros jugando fuera de casa donde tuvo chances claras de quedarse con la victoria. “Creo que va a ser un buen partido, nosotros lo vamos a ir a buscar de visitante y ellos tienen la obligación de ganar porque están en su casa y están de local, creo que se va a dar un buen partido afirmó. Y agregó que el sábado hay que buscar la victoria por el bien del equipo. “Hay que salir a buscar todos los partidos que quedan pocos, nosotros tenemos la obligación de ganar para no quedar en zona de promedios y creo que tenemos que salir a buscar los partidos desde el inicio sin regalar nada, esa es la iniciativa, es lo que vamos a buscar el sábado y espero que se nos dé porque la verdad  nos hace falta un triunfo de visitante”, sentenció.

Por ultimo, el juvenil de diecisiete años afirmó que se siente muy cómodo por el rol que le otorgó el técnico dentro de la estructura del equipo, “Estoy tranquilo, ahora me estoy afianzando por el lado derecho y cada vez voy conociendo más el puesto, y creo que con el correr de los partidos vamos a ir mejorando”, explicó.

El sueño celeste y blanco hizo eco en la Patagonia

En la ciudad de los vientos a más de 1.400 kilómetros de la Capital del país, el entrenador del combinado nacional Sub 17, Sergio Batista, miró de reojo al sur y dio la sorpresa al convocar al preseleccionado a Lucas Villafáñez, el volante de la Comisión de Actividades Infantiles que debutó en la presente temporada.

Luego de vivir tres días de entrenamiento en el predio de Ezeiza, “Villita” se mostró feliz por tener la chance de ponerse la celeste y blanca. “Estoy muy bien, muy contento, nunca había ido a la Selección, y tranquilo me tocó un buen grupo y cada vez estoy conociendo más a los muchachos, creo que cada semana va a ser más lindo”, remarcó con la timidez que caracteriza al volante creativo.

Los vuelos a la Ciudad Autónoma de Buenos Aires ya no serán iguales para Villafáñez, ahora cuando el avión toque tierra portuaria, sabrá que es para llegar hasta el predio donde se entrenan los referentes del fútbol argentino. “Creo que cualquier jugador busca esto y bueno me tocó a mí y es lindo en este momento”, afirmó y explicó que su entorno esta feliz por el presente celeste y blanco. “Muy contentos, muy feliz por todo y creo que es una linda oportunidad para demostrar lo que uno sabe y que viene trabajando durante hace tiempo”, sentenció.

El seleccionado, sin dudas le abrirá nuevas puertas a Villafáñez, quien a fin de temporada tiene grandes chances de recibir alguna oferta de los equipos que juegan en Primera división, sin embargo, a pesar de su corta edad “Villita” desea pensar primero en el presente y futuro de la CAI antes que en una posible transferencia.

“En este momento no, estoy contento con esto, primero hay que hacer las cosas bien en el equipo que uno está y después del campeonato se verá la posibilidades a futuro”, sostuvo.

HOUSTON.— La historia nace con un alumbramiento: el de los mellizos Rogelio Gabriel y José Ramiro Funes Mori, en el Hospital Español de la ciudad de Mendoza, Argentina, el 5 de marzo de 1991.
De pequeños empezaron a jugar al fútbol en las divisiones infantiles del Godoy Cruz, equipo de la provincia que actualmente milita en Primera División, pero la crisis económica desatada en la Argentina obligó a la familia a dejar su Mendoza natal en el 2000 y emigrar a Dallas.
Pronto, su padre Miguel Ruperto consiguió empleo en un taller mecánico, mientras que su madre Silvana empezó a trabajar de cajera.
Los mellizos tras terminar primero la escuela Elemental y luego la Media, comenzaron a concurrir a al High School en Arlington y jugar en el ASG 91 de Dallas.

Sus virtudes futbolísticas no tardaron en aparecer, tan sólo que mientras que Rogelio Gabriel mostraba condiciones como un veloz atacante, José Ramiro impresionaba como un seguro defensor. Con los también argentinos Emanuel Ginóbili y Fabricio Oberto en San Antonio Spurs, comenzaron a seguir y practicar también básquet, pero no había dudas que su talento estaba más ligado al fútbol

Su premio le aseguraba el ingreso a las fuerzas básicas del F.C. Dallas, pero al poco tiempo le llegó una oferta para probarse en el Chelsea de Inglaterra. Allí se cruzaron con otro juvenil jugador oriundo de Mendoza, Franco Di Santo, quien llegó al equipo londinense desde el Audax Italiano de Chile, sin pasar por el fútbol grande de su país.
La rueda de la fortuna

Consultados por si encontraban a gusto en River Plate, coincidieron ambos que “es hermoso porque River es un club muy grande, competitivos y es el equipo del que somos hinchas en la familia, por lo que es mayor nuestra felicidad”.
Para llegar en Nuñez, ambos han recorrido un largo camino, pero extrañan también a Dallas, donde aún residen sus padres y sus dos hermanas, con el sueño de muy pronto,
