According to Haas' coach, Red Ayme, "Tommy feels as if he's starting his second career. It's a great opportunity for him." The stylish Haas plays an engaging all-court game, backed up by his elegant one-handed backhand and athleticism. He's got a local connection to this event too, as his father is lifelong friends with California Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger ?Vince Spadea, Haas' opponents, credits his improved serve to his working relationship with Pete Sampras' one-time mentor, Pete Fischer. Pay close attention to the way the early part of Spadea's service motion is similar to Sampras' . . . Speaking for anyone who's ever played Davis Cup, Ginepri said, "It was tough, but you get through it, and that was a lot of fun."
