Simeone: "Los rivales ahora nos miran diferente"
"Nos enfrentamos a un Valencia necesitado", avisa el técnico rojiblanco.
Diego Pablo Simeone compareció ante los medios en el Cerro del Espino de Majadahonda en la previa del importante partido del Atlético de Madrid en Mestalla de este sábado (22.00 h. en C+1, Radio MARCA y MARCA.com). "Nos enfrentamos a un rival grande, necesitado, con obligaciones. Será un partido muy duro", aclaró el Cholo.
SOBRE EL VALENCIA
"No es el primer grande al que nos medimos"
"No es el primer grande al que nos medimos, no podemos olvidarnos del Chelsea o del Málaga", destaca Simeone sobre los comentarios que apuntan a que el del Valencia es el primer partido del Atlético ante un rival directo en esta Liga BBVA. "El rival está muy necesitado y tiene mucha jerarquía en sus jugadores. Será un partido muy parecido al inicio del partido de Europa League. Habrá que estar bien". Sobre su homólogo en el Valencia, Simeone fue claro: "Pellegrino es inteligente y trabaja con entusiasmo, no tengo duda de que hará una gran temporada".
SOBRE FALCAO
"No pienso en que Falcao se vaya. Ahora tenemos que disfrutarlo"
El técnico rojiblanco analizó la situación del equipo, colíder de la Liga BBVA: "El objetivo es no alejarnos de la línea que tenemos desde que llegamos. Cuando uno va creciendo, las expectativas cambian para los que te enfrentan, tienen una tensión diferente a otros momentos. Cada partido nos cuenta mucho y hay que hacer un gran esfuerzo. Nuestro valor es competir con distintos nombres pero con una misma idea. Los rivales ahora nos miran diferente".

"Conozco a Falcao desde pequeño y he vivido cosas muy buenas, buenas y malas. Sabemos cómo somos en lo bueno y en lo malo. Es extraordinario, profesional y todo lo que logra es por trabajo, por esfuerzo, por querer y por creer.
El fútbol es transmisión y Falcao transmite energías positivas", explicó Simeone. "No pienso en que Falcao se vaya. No puedo ponerme a pensar en dentro de seis meses y no veo absolutamente que pueda salir en diciembre. Ahora tenemos que disfrutarlo", aclaró el técnico del Atlético.
De cara al viaje a la capital del Turia, Simeone dijo que "Cebolla posiblemente esté" (el uruguayo necesitó puntos de sutura en una herida en el cuádriceps derecho durante el partido de Copa ante el Jaén). "Koke es importantísimo y participó mucho al principio. Ahora entiendo que hay otros que pueden arrancar también", añadió Simeone.
"No estamos pensando en Diego. Me ha sorprendido la información. Lo que necesitamos es que los nuestros estén bien. Es un gran jugador, pero no hay nada que comentar", aclaró.

Diego Pablo Simeone appeared at a press conference before the game against Valencia. When asked if it is the first serious challenger Atletico have faced this season, the Atletico coach was clear: "have you forgeten about Chelsea and Malaga ...".
On the situation of his rival on Saturday, the Argentine coach said: "We are going to face a great opponent who have worked hard in recent years, who have a coach who has the ability and the players."
He also said of Mauricio Pellegrino that he is working "with enthusiasm, he is a very smart guy and will surely be with the team in Valencia having a great season. Thats no doubt."
Simeone think this game will be similar to the semifinal of the UEFA Europa League last: "In the first half of that game it was difficult and we have to be prepared for this situation because it will be very similar to the start of the Cup game".
Simeone, on the other hand, also spoke of the Colombian Radamel Falcao: "He is an extraordinary player, professional, all that he does is he tries to improve and that led him to believe and to be where he is today. We're happy to have a striker like him."
As for the rumors about Diego Ribas, Simeone was very clear: "We are not thinking about Diego Ribas. When I read the information I was surprised. Diego is a great player, who did very well here, but today he plays for another team and I have no comment."

Diego Pablo Simeone names an18-man squad to travel to Valencia
Cristian Rodriguez trained on Friday afternoon and travels, while Diego Costa misses out
Atletico Madrid trained on Friday afternoon at the Majadahonda Sports for 50 minutes and at the end of the session, Diego Pablo Simeone provided the list of 18 players who will travel on Saturday at noon to Valencia. Cristian Rodriguez, who did not train in the morning session, did so in the afternoon and went into the squad for the match against Valencia.
In the afternoon session on Friday Torres Oliver worked with the group, being the only youth player who participated in the first team. Diego Costa didn’t train as he’s suffering from phlebitis in the right saphenous vein.
The team travels to Valencia by train on Saturday morning, to return early Sunday.

Atleti will fight to keep their historic streaks alive in tough away clash at the Mestalla

On Saturday, high-flying Atlético will look to prove that their almost perfect start to the 2012/13 campaign is no fluke when they head out to the Mestalla to take on their hosts Valencia.
The battle between the long-standing direct rivals begins at 22:00 CET.
Coming into the weekend on the back of their 13th win in a row following a midweek triump in their Copa del Rey opener, Atleti currently hold an unthinkable 14-point advantage over Los Che, who have claimed third-place the past three seasons.
It is the Valencian outfit’s reputation as the perennial champions of what is informally known as La ‘Otra’ Liga, the ‘other’ league, that has reporters billing this match as Atlético’s hardest test so far, a designation Rojiblanco boss Diego Simeone shot down in a press conference on Friday.
“You have forgotten about Chelsea and Málaga,” the Argentine tactician said.
“We’re going to face off against a great, needy opponent with obligations because of history, because of how they’ve performed in recent years, because of their coach and because of the capacity of their players.”
‘El Cholo’ then harked back to our last venture into the Valencianistas’ stadium, the second leg of last season’s Europa League semi-final, an encounter we ended up winning 1-0.
“We had a hard time in the first half of that game and we have to be prepared for that situation because this match will be similar.”
Finally, Simeone addressed a pair of rampantly circulating rumours with regard to the futures of star striker Radamel Falcao and of former Atleti midfielder Diego at the club.
“I don’t see Falcao leaving in December,” he declared, before adding that ‘El Tigre’ “is an extraordinary and very professional player”.
The Colombian can take his personal scoring streak to 12 straight appearances if he bags a goal against Valencia.
Cholo then dispelled the claims suggesting he is demanding the purchase of Wolfsburg midfielder Diego.
“We’re not thinking about Diego Ribas,” he stated. “I read the news today and it surprised me.”
He continued: “We know that Diego is a great player, who did very well here, but he’s on another team right now and I have nothing to comment on.”
Diego Costa, suffering from “phlebitis” — the club’s official website reports — will not be taking the high-speed train to Valencia.
Cristian ‘Cebolla’ Rodríguez, who got his ‘Onion’ nickname for once “having made the opposing defence cry”, just about had Colchonero fans shedding tears late into Wednesday’s Copa del Rey bout when he was the victim of a ghastly challenge by a Real Jaén player.
TV footage caught the chilling moment when blood began to gush out of a deep wound in the Uruguayan’s thigh that required a stitch afterwards.
The gash didn’t prevent the hard-as-nails former Porto man from appearing in the match selection though.
Valencia manager Mauricio Pellegrino, who replaced Unai Emery over the summer, has failed to live up to the standard set by his predecessor.
Los Che presently find themselves in a ho-hum 11th-place position in the league table as they have only managed to bring home one point from their travels (one draw and four losses away from the Mestalla).
They were shut out 1-0 by Betis last Saturday in Sevilla.
However, it’s a different story when they play on their grounds. There, they remain unbeaten and have put together three wins on the trot.
Valencia hitman Roberto Soldado’s domestic campaign is sputtering a bit, as ‘Bobby Soldier’ only has three league goals so far this term, all scored at Mestalla.
Pellegrino doled out some praise for Atleti in his pre-game press conference.
“They are on a very good run and it is not by chance,” he was quoted as saying by ESPN Soccernet.
“It is the fruit of the work of a team and not of just one player. They will be a very strong opponent and a great test for us.”
Attacking midfielder Sofiane Feghouli is back for Valencia after serving a harsh three-game suspension meted out for his mocking applause of referee Pérez Montero a little over a month ago.
Pablo Piatti, Jeremy Mathieu and Sergio Canales are all sidelined with injuries.
