CSKA Moscow have made a sizeable offer for River Plate striker Fernando Cavenaghi.
The Russian side are keen on signing the highly-rated forward and the player's agent is in Moscow to discuss the deal.
River Plate president Jose Maria Aguilar confirmed the offer and admitted that Cavenaghi wants to try his luck in Europe.
"We received a fax on Friday night with a 17 million Dollar offer for the player," said Aguilar.
"At the moment the only thing that has been done is to let the agent of the player to travel to talk with the officials of CSKA.
"We haven't had any negotiation with the Russians. We first want to hear what the agent has to say."
On the other hand, Cavenaghi played in River's 2-1 win over Rosario Central on Friday and gave the victory to his team, who are now two points away from Boca in the positions.
"We know that the player would like to play in another league. He would especially like to play in Europe, Spain, England or Italy," he added.
"We don't know what his opinion is on offers so it would also be interesting to know. Besides that, I must say that the player will surely be in River at least until July."
Cavenaghi is trying to not to think about the interest as he wants to concentrate on things at River.
"The only thing that I know is what has been said in the press," said Cavenaghi.
"I am concentrating on River because we have three very important weeks now. We have to play two very important games for the Torneo Clausura and the same with the Copa Libertadores."
